Dustin Successfully Completes Construction on William H. Farquhar Middle School
Olney, Maryland- Dustin Construction is pleased to announce it has successfully completed construction of the new William H. Farquhar Middle School for Montgomery County Public Schools. Named after William Farquhar, William H. Farquhar Middle School was originally built in 1968 and was the first middle school in Montgomery County. William, a notable academic and farmer of Sandy Spring, was known for his contributions to the development of modern Montgomery County. We are pleased to continue a tradition of service that William brought to the community of the area through the construction of this new iconic school.
Located off of Batchellors Forest Rd, this new middle school facility covers an area of 135,626 SF and has a capacity of 950 faculty and students. The school is comprised of a 3 story wing to the south and a 2 story wing to the north. A courtyard sits between these wings and is enclosed by two breezeways that connect the two wings. Some key features include a green roof, playing fields and courts, vehicle access roads, parking, and storm water management systems.
The school was designed by Hord Coplan Macht and is set to achieve LEED Gold certification. The school will be formally dedicated at a ribbon cutting ceremony in the spring of 2017.
