Development Services Building

Location: Woodbridge, VA
Owner: Prince William County
Architect: Centerbrooke Architects & Planners
Delivery: Design/Bid/Build

The Development Services Building is an all-new administrative office building located in Prince William County. Dustin worked with Centerbrook Architects & Planners to construct this 116,250 SF facility which includes offices and a spacious lobby; the new building also functions as a Town Hall.  Within the lobby are information kiosks, visitor serving counters, and public meeting rooms.   As a change order by the Owner after completion of the building, a three-quarter acre festival plaza was built between the two county buildings.  This ornate plaza is surrounded by canopies with an open middle area so that the facility can be used during any type of weather.  Additionally, a large, functioning stage serves as a focal point of the plaza where various concerts and plays take place. This plaza further provides multi-purpose space for other public events including farmers’ markets, art festivals and craft fairs.  The plaza was constructed under an incredibly restrictive schedule as the Owner required completion by a certain date for a Dedication Ceremony, a date that could not be changed despite the late change order by the Owner.  Although construction was not fully complete for the Dedication, Dustin pooled all resources including laying sod and installing temporary yet aesthetically pleasing lights so that the Dedication Ceremony was a success.  Dustin Construction was given the Notice to Proceed in March 2005, and completed the project on-time and on-budget in October 2006.
